The brothers retired in the home state of Virginia in 1961. In mid-1920’s, the Muse brothers toured with Ringling bros and Barnum & Bailey Circus. They were able to buy their mother a home, which she passed away in during the early 1940’s. She threatened to sue and the Muse brothers were freed. The two brothers were both albinos, a feature that Willie claimed prompted a circus man to abduct the two children in 1899 while they worked in a field.

She fought to free her sons, some 20 years after their disappearance. George and Willie Muse are two brothers growing up in Truevine, part of a sharecropping family that live in a tobacco farming community near Roanoke, Virginia. In 1927, while visiting their hometown, their mother finally tracked them down. Since the circus was all they knew, the brothers made the painful decision of staying with the circus and continuing to grow their worldwide fame.
